Daniel was among the vampires who came into Japan after James had rescued Elda Marker, who later became the latter's spouse, from the vampire hunters massacring her own clan, the Markers.
Sometime before Elda was rescued from the massacre, Daniel proposed and married Cecilia Armash, who James had taken an interest in. While it is unclears that he approach Cecilia at first due to the Braunlichs' goal of controlling over the Armash bloodline, the descendants of Sophia Pistis the Psyche, Daniel truly came to love Cecilia and treated her as a person, not as a slave or tool to increase the family's fertility like the rest of the family. The feeling was mutual, as Cecilia rejected James' proposal to be with him. Wanting to free his daughter Calera from the curse of Psyche, Daniel and Cecilia accepted James' proposal for Calera to marry into Marker Family, thus ending the Armash bloodline with them. Before Calera left, Daniel and Cecilia told their daughter to never return to their family home again and spend the rest of her life with her fiance's family, much to the two's sadness of having to part with her.

Daniel and Cecilia lived their remaining years together in seclude, until Cecilia eventually passed away due to her frail health. Not wanting to remain living without the love of his life, Daniel chose to starve himself to death and be reunited with Cecilia. Before he could've succeeded, Calera came to visit and question him about her daughter Karin's strange condition of over-producing blood and being able to remain in sunlight despite having passed into adult age for a vampire. Though shocked that the curse of Psyche had not been lifted, Daniel informed Calera his knowledge about the subject and warned her that unless the curse was broken, Karin's remaining life will not be long. Afterward, Daniel was comforted by Calera until he finally passed away.
